DAMIR PILDEK
What can be better than to stop the time,
to collect the photons and freeze the moments of our passing time,
to make people happier.
YEAR – 1975
ANALOG TIME
As a fifteen-year-old boy, he developed his black and white films in an improvised darkroom and blew up photographs on the enlargement machine that he made of an old camera, repurposed condenser, and the light in a Valvoline oil can. He made his first and serious steps in photography as a member of the Photo club Zagreb thirty years ago. He frequently exhibits in the country and all over the world.
YEAR 1997
DIGITAL TIME
He came back to digital photography when the digital cameras started to appear. This conjunction of electronics and photography was the reason for researching digital cameras and techniques. In 1998, he acquired his first digital camera and since then he’s been intensively involved with the photography.
In the year 2001 he started writing on the subject for his pleasure, editing his online magazine Photopixel. In Croatian state archive, he starts digitalization of old documents, films, and large format negatives. That was the beginning of going back to analog photography. In the daily contact with photographs and negatives of the 19th century, the love for analog photography was growing. Oversaturated with digital, he turns to old analog photo techniques.
YEAR – 2018
NEW – ANALOG
He is rebuilding and equipping a darkroom for analog photography and began to enjoy the Cyanotypes on glass, Cyanotypes, Kallitypes, GomOils, and Albumin again. Writing a blog is just an addition and a desire to share my knowledge and experience in photography.
